German and Spanish Translation

I am a freelance literary translator working from German and Spanish into English. Having discovered my passion for literary translation during my MA in Translation Studies at Bristol University, I attended the 2019 Warwick Translates Summer School and the 2018 BCLT Literary Translation and Creative Writing Summer School. I enjoy translating for both adults and children, and I’m particularly interested in migration and identity.

Translating for adults

My translations for adults have been published in several literary journals and I was shortlisted for the 2019 Goethe-Institut Award for New Translation and the 2020 Austrian Cultural Forum London Translation Prize, in the category for aspiring translators. For more details, please see my publications page.

I also received a Special Commendation from the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in the 2019 ITI Award for Best Newcomer.

Translating for children

My first translated picture book: ‘Today you can’t play’ by Pilar Serrano and Canizales

I have a special interest in books for children and young adults. My debut Young Adult novel translation is forthcoming in 2022 from Andersen Press.

As co-editor of World Kid Lit I work to highlight the importance of translated and world books for children, as well as encouraging publishers to translate books from languages that are less represented in English translation.

I also provide samples, readers reports and reviews for publishers both in the UK and abroad.
